On April 22, 2009, First Landing Foundation along with the US Army Garrison Fort Story and Chesapeake Bay Foundation partnered with Goodman & Company enabeling 200 volunteers to accomplish the following on Fort Story:
Planted 300 Beach grass plugs.
Removed an acre of Japanese Honeysuckle (a non-native invasive plant).
Planted 200 Trumpet Honeysuckle vines (native to Virginia).
Created a Butterfly Garden at the Fort Story Youth Center.
